After the success of his debut single, 'Take It Back', last year, Mr Benn has been hard at work in the studio and this nugget of vinyl gold is the product of his labours. Returning triumphantly to the reggae-infused sound of his debut, 'Trubble' is a futuristic proto-dancehall bass bomb. Featuring the vocals of Blackout JA, a legend of the dancehall/ragga scene who has previously worked with such luminaries as Sizzla, 'Trubble' brings together the sounds of Jamaica with contemporary beats and basses. With sax duties undertaken by Mr Bennâ€™s own father, this 12" keeps it very much in the family. On the flip, reggae/hip-hop mash-up king J-Star steps up to the plate to deliver an electronic dancehall destroyer that has to rate as one of his finest remixes. After raising the bootleg bar with his reggae mash-up of 'No Diggity', J-Star has gone on to remix the likes of Ms Dynamite, Sway, DJ Vadim and Blackgrass. After remix work for other releases in the Leisure catalogue, Mr Benn is making a solid name for himself as a DJ with bookings as far afield as Penzance and Vienna. Expect big things in the future.
